Project: Danderhall Primary School and Community Facilities

Project Summary: New school and community use facilities built within confines of existing Danderhall Primary School grounds, with subsequent demolition of the existing building to provide external teaching facilities and public realm space. This project started construction in June 2019 and is currently progressing on site.

The school side of the project comprises the construction of a 2 Stream Primary School Facility along with Nursery/Early Years provision. The building itself is predominantly 2 storey steel framed construction using a variety of rainscreen cladding (including copper panels) and rendered external wall construction finishes. Internally the building has three individual Games Halls, with access available for the public outwith normal school hours. The Community Facilities include for a library/café area, soft play facilities and a Fitness Suite which overlooks the surrounding Pentland Hills.

This project includes for the full project delivery including FF&E provision. External works includes for remote car parking, playgrounds, play equipment and a Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) facility. Due to the nature of the works and the need to have continuity of schooling provision to the site, this project is being delivered on a 4 Stage Sectional Completion basis. Thomas & Adamson have provided roles from project outset and budget setting stage.
