Project Summary: Creation of a large mixed use development comprising offices, hotel, retail, basement car parking and public realm/civic square.

The redevelopment of the old Royal Infirmary, Edinburgh is a major urban regeneration project comprising extensive demolitions of hospital buildings, retention of listed buildings, conversion of these buildings to high quality residential apartments, over 300 new build apartments, an aparthotel, speculative offices, retail units, basement parking, infrastructure and high quality public realm. We have supported Quartermile Ventures Limited in cost management/procurement for the delivery of new residential accommodation in both new build and conversion scenarios. The new build being designed by Foster & Partners and conservation be CDA. The new build projects are procured through a negotiated shell and core project and construction management fit out contract.

The development utilised a creative funding structure through partnership with the local authority to create a major regeneration project.

The end product comprised 177,000sqft (net) of BREEAM Excellent, Grade A office accommodation over two buildings, a 4-star Residence Inn by Marriott hotel and extensive high-end F&B.

Quartermile was awarded the Scottish Regional Committee Chair award at the 2020 BCO awards.
